Randy MacGregor

Randy MacGregor (born July 9, 1953 in London, Ontario) was a professional ice hockey player. Randy played Junior Hockey in Ontario, before going pro with the Broome Dusters (Binghamton, NY) of the North American Hockey League in 1973. He skated much of his professional career in Binghamton.

Randy met Margaret (Peggy) Killeen, daughter of the Arena's Box Office Manager Dorothy Killeen, while playing in Binghamton. The two would marry on March 15th, 1975. The young couple welcomed a son, Justin, into the Binghamton hockey family a day shy of their 2nd Wedding Anniversary, March 14th, 1977.

Randy would make the transition with the Dusters later that year from the now defunct NAHL to the American Hockey League. The Dusters became the Whalers in 1980 and Randy would spend part of the 1980–81 season in Klagenfurt, Austria. He would return to Binghamton later that season, but would end his career in 1985 in Glens Falls, NY with the Adirondack Red Wings.

Following his playing days, Randy returned to his adopted hometown of Binghamton. In the mid-90's Randy and Peggy would divorce after 20 years of marriage. Randy, a contractor and a coach in the Syracuse Stars minor hockey system, continues to reside in the area. His son Justin, is a radio dj with Q107 WRRQ-FM in Binghamton and works with the Binghamton Senators hockey club. Now calling Vestal home, Randy and girlfriend Lynn Walsh have a son, Dillon, who continues the family's hockey tradition into the new millennium as a member of the Vestal High School hockey team and the Syracuse Stars.

Awards

In 1984, Randy MacGregor's #11 became the only jersey in Binghamton Hockey History to be retired to the rafters. (It was unretired by the Rangers' organization in 1991)

In 1998, Randy MacGregor was inducted into the Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame.
