Petter Hugsted (
July 11 ,1921 –May 19 ,2000 ) was a champion Norwegian ski jumper. Born inKongsberg , he won the Olympic gold medal inSki Jumping in1948 Winter Olympics atSt. Moritz . This was impressive, especially after being held in theGrini concentration camp during theGerman occupation of Norway . He was also an excellent soccer player and was the captain of the Norwegian B-National soccer team.Other awards

Lahti , Finland in 1947.Silver medal in the 1940 and third place finish in 1947 and 1948 ski jump competitions at the
Holmenkollen ski jump in Oslo.Champion of the United States National Ski Jumping Competition in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1949.
Later in life, Petter Hugsted, with his friend
Birger Ruud , devoted much energy to the creation and curatorship of theKongsberg Skiing Museum .External links
