WDCT is a Korean Religious formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Fairfax, Virginia, serving Fairfax/Burke/Arlington/Manassass area. WDCT is owned and operated by Family Radio, Ltd.

History

The station began broadcasting in 1955 as WFCR (Fairfax Circle/County Radio), owned by the Olsen/Kellar Broadcasting Company. At first the signal was 500 watts power with the authority to broadcast sunrise-to-sunset.

In 1962, OKBC was granted permission to increase their power to 5 kW daytime and 500 watts night. That year, the station's call sign changed to WEEL, for a contest called "Wheel-O."

During the 1960s and 1970s, the station had an adult contemporary format, which was characterized as "almost Top 40." WEEL was owned by the same company that pioneered "easy-listening" radio with WEZR, an FM radio station at 106.7 MHz licensed to Manassas, Virginia. WEEL was always compared with Top 40 stations WEAM on 1390 kHz and WPGC on 1580 kHz.

In 1970, the company took the successful easy listening format to the Richmond market when it acquired classical music station WFMV (FM) and changed the call sign to WEZS. After a brief skirmish and with loyal WFMV listeners and assistance from the new owners in moving the classical format to WRFK, a non-profit station, the easy listening format was very successful in Richmond as it had been in the Washington DC metro market.

The station was then sold to the family of President Lyndon Baines Johnson, who then sold the station to a nonprofit organization, which changed the callsign to WDCT ("DC Talk Radio") and began Christian programming.
