- 8SVX
8SVX is a subformat of the
Interchange File Format . The subformat is for 8-bit sampled sounds, supports both mono and stereo streams as well as loops; commonly used as a basic audio sample format onAmiga computers for many years. Its 16-bit counterpart, called16SV , never gained such a popularity due to the lack of native hardware support for 16-bit audio in Amigas and growing popularity of other formats likeAIFF andWAV .8SVX uses
PCM encoding, optionally with lossyFibonacci -delta compression (halving the data rate).8SVX is supported by
AmigaOS by default through 8SVX.datatype and practically by all audio-related applications created for thatoperating system , including sound editing and music composing software (liketracker s).
