cpvi = R+19Georgia's 6th Congressional District has been represented in the
United States House of Representatives by Tom Price (Republican) since2005 . Price won re-election in 2006 defeating Democratic challenger Steve Sinton 72%-28%. Had the district covered the area it does currently in 2004, George W. Bush would have received 70% of the vote.cite web | url = http://www.cqpolitics.com/wmspage.cfm?docID=district-GA-06 | title = CQ Politics]The district has existed since the 29th Congress (1845-1847), the first Congress in which Representatives were elected from districts, rather than at-large. Georgia gained a sixth Representative for the first time in the 13th Congress (1813-1815).
The district is made up of Atlanta's northern suburbs. Redistricted by the 110th Congress in 2007, the district is made up of eastern Cobb County, northern Fulton County, the Dunwoody area of northern DeKalb County, as well as all of Cherokee County.
The 6th is Georgia's most affluent and educated district. 51% of residents in the district have at least a
Bachelor's Degree .cite web | url = http://www.cqpolitics.com/wmspage.cfm?docID=district-GA-06 | title = CQ Politics]The residents in this district are largely white, very affluent, well-educated, and overwhelmingly Republican with
fiscal conservatism being by far the most salient feature.
