He played his entire professional career for theDenver Broncos , in theAmerican Football League from 1967 through 1969, and in theNational Football League from 1970 through 1974. Currently, he is battlingLou Gehrig's Disease , with which he was diagnosed in 2000. He has been raising funds for ALS.Duranko was an
All-America n on the 1966 national champion Notre Dame team that played the famous 10-10 tie withMichigan State . The next season he began his pro career with the Denver Broncos] , who were then in the American Football League. He had also been drafted by theCleveland Browns . Duranko played on a Denver team that includedLyle Alzado . Shortly after his departure, the Broncos would make it to theSuper Bowl XII , following the 1977 season under the "Orange Crush " moniker.Duranko attended
Bishop McCort High School inJohnstown, Pennsylvania . He played football, ran track, and was ashot put ter. He outgained his opponents by himself in high school.
