Chicago is an 'L' station on the CTA's Red Line. It is a subway station with two side platforms, located at 800 North State Street—underneath the intersection of Chicago Avenue and State Street—in the River North neighborhood of
Chicago 's Near North Side. The station serves theMagnificent Mile including the Water Tower, the Rush Street entertainment district, and the downtown campus ofLoyola University Chicago .History
Chicago Station opened, along with the rest of the
State Street Subway , in 1943. In 2001 the station was extensively renovated, including the addition of elevators to meet the accessibility requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
