The Via Julia Augusta is the name given to the
Roman road formed by the merging of theVia Aemilia Scauri with theVia Postumia , running fromPlacentia (modern Piacenza) toArelates (modernArles ) through Derthona (Tortona ), Vada Sabatia (Vado Ligure ), Albingaunum (Albenga ) and Album Intimilium (Ventimiglia ).It was begun in
13 BC byAugustus , and originally stopped atLa Turbie with atriumphal arch ; later it was prolonged to Arles where it joined theVia Domitia .Roman bridges
