Sandersville Railroad

The Sandersville Railroad reporting mark|SAN was originally operated from Tennille, Georgia, to Sandersville, Georgia and chartered in 1893 as a subsidiary of the Central of Georgia Railroad.

It was extended north five miles from Sandersville to a kaolin mine and processing plants. It continues to operate the same nine miles as of 2005 and is nicknamed "The Kaolin Road". The line owns 4 EMD SW1500 switchers, numbered 1100-1500, one EMD SW1200, numbered 1200.The line owns two slugs numbered 90 and 91. 90 is a former Norfolk Southern and 91 is a former Rock Island. In addition, the line owns 2 cabooses and many freight cars including, hoppers, boxcars and woodchip cars. The railroad has a repair shop located in downtown Sandersville. The railroad interchanges with Norfolk Southern at Tennile, Georgia.
