Vinit Singh

Vineet Singh( or " Vinit Singh ") (Devanāgarī: विनीत सिन्घ) was born on 15 January 1989 in Lucknow, India. He is an upcoming Bollywood playback singer.

Biography

Vineet is a boy from Lukhnow and had come to Mumbai with big dreams. His dreams were true when he was a runner up in a music talent show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005. His guru Himesh Reshammiya gave him lot of support in order to make his career successful.

a Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005

Vineet began singing at the age of 5 and was first noticed in the music talent show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is a reality television program, where the winner is chosen on the basis of public voting. Initially Vineet was not selected to participate in Challenge 2005, as he was only 16 and considered under age. Later he was accepted as a wild card entry from Fame 2005. He became Himesh Reshammiya's protege and represented Himesh's Rock Gharana on the show. Himesh even gifted Vineet his trademark lucky cap, which Vineet sported for the rest of the show. In the initial rounds of the show (when there was no public voting, but the contestants were judged by the likes of Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Jagjit Singh, etc.) Vineet, along with Nihira and Hemachandra were the only three participants who scored a perfect hat-trick, getting through each round the first time itself. Debojit (the winner of the show), on the other hand , was not able to clear any round on the first try.

Challenge 2005 became wildly popular and Vineet soon was a well known face on Indian Television. Other than Debojit Saha, he was the only contestant on the show, who was never in the danger zone. Unlike Debojit, who got almost 80% of his votes from his home area, Vineet did not receive many votes from his home-state U.P. but from all over India.

Before the grand finale Debojit and Vineet campaigned in their home towns to garner votes. There were public processions, with the two being treated like celebrities. After a tough fight Debojit finally won the coveted Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005, leaving Vineet shell-shocked at his defeat. He collapsed on the shoulder of his "mentor" Himesh Reshammiya.

Vinit's debut song in Bollywood, was "Dil Rang Le" a duet with Sunidhi Chauhan for the film "Rocky...The Rebel" Vineet performed with Himesh Reshammiya in his international concert series, "Aap Ka Surroor" in the fall of 2006 with fellow contestant Himani Kapoor.

Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star

Vineet Singh resurfaced in 2008, as a contestant on the show Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star. As before his performances were stellar and consistent. His favourite contestant and best friend in the show was Rahul Vaidya. The judges couldn't stop singing his praises and he was the top scorer every week. But this time around he failed to grab public popularity. He got eliminated the week after he was declared the best singer by Bollywood playback veteran Udit Narayan. This was a bigger blow than Challenge 2005 and Vineet tearfully asked the audience, "Aap har baar mere saath, aisa kyon karte ho?" ("Why do you do this with me every time?")The whole set including Mandira Bedi, Farah Khan and Vishal-Shekhar was moved to tears at his loss. In honour of his consistent performances, he was allowed to leave with his star, something that was taken away from all the previous contestants after being knocked out of the show.

Aajaa Mahi Vay

Vineet Singh is the host of the dance show "Aajaa Mahi Vay" with his co-host Rahul Vaidya who was the winner of Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar. Both of them are very successful in this dance show.

Trivia

* Vineet dropped his 12th grade board exams to participate in Challenge 2005.

* He has participated in 51 competitions and won 48 out of them.

* He has a girlfriend named Bansari.

* On being constantly teased about his secret girlfriend on Challenge 2005, he joked that his girlfried was his maidservant.

* He was romantically linked with fellow contestants Twinkle Bajpai and Himani Kapoor on Challenge 2005. He continues being good friends with both the girls.

* Despite being the top scorer for most weeks on Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar, he was eliminated from the show because he didn't get sufficient public votes.

* Vinit has a private album on the cards. The album is supposed to feature 6 to 7 tracks, with one being a Sufi song. The album is suppose to come this year but since Himesh Reshammiya is the composer of that album and he is busy with his films and composing them, the album might get delayed to next year.
