Prix Henry Vieuxtemps

Prix Henry Vieuxtemps

The Prix Henry Vieuxtemps is a violin competition held in Verviers, Belgium. It is named after the famed Violinist/Composer Henri Vieuxtemps. At one time it was biannual, but is now held every four years.

Applicants must be at or below 30 years of age, have attended a Belgian Conservatory for one year, and received a degree in violin performance.

Compulsory Pieces

* A predetermined concerto by Vieuxtemps
* A sonata or Partita of J. S. Bach
* A virtuoso piece my Henry Vieuxtemps
* any concerto
* a work by a Belgian composer,
* a modern work composed after 1920,
* another work chosen by the candidate
