A7 road (Northern Ireland) ."The A7 is a major
trunk road in theUnited Kingdom , that runs south fromEdinburgh inScotland toCarlisle in north-westernEngland . The A7 begins its course in central Edinburgh, before passing through the city's south-eastern suburbs - on this part of the route it passesCameron Toll - and then meeting theA720 that leads toGlasgow ,Kilmarnock A71, Livingston, Perth and Stirling, and the A68 at the notoriously busy Sherifhall Roundabout. The A7 travels through the Borders towns of
Galashiels ,Selkirk andHawick , throughLangholm inDumfries and Galloway , before crossing the border into England, into the county ofCumbria , just south of the village ofCanonbie . It then continues through the small town of Longtown, before meeting the A74, the A689 and the M6 at the Greymoorhill Roundabout, which is junction 44 of the M6, and currently the motorway's last junction (although this may change after the M6 is extended northwards toGretna ).Beyond Greymoorhill, the A7 is briefly
dual carriageway , close to the Kingstown Industrial Estate on the northern fringe of Carlisle. Continuing as a busy single carriageway road, it passes several mainsupermarket s, and crosses the River Eden over Eden Bridge. At Hardwicke Circus, a largeroundabout junction, the A7 meets the A595 to west and southern Cumbria then forms part of Carlisle's one way system through the city centre meeting the A69 and finally becoming the A6 nearCarlisle railway station .ee also
