- Fuzzball router
Fuzzball routers were the first modern
router s on theInternet . They were DECLSI-11 computers loaded with router software written byDavid L. Mills (of theUniversity of Delaware ). The name "Fuzzball" was thecolloquialism for Mills' routing software. About fifty of them were deployed worldwide in the early 1980s on the first 56kb/secNSFnet to test many of theInternet 's first protocols. A few are still active on the internet today.Sources:
