Entre Douro e Vouga

Entre Douro e Vouga is a NUTS3 Portuguese subregion integrated in the NUTS2 region Norte. Its name stands for the fact that it covers an area between the rivers Douro and Vouga. It is bordered in the north by the subregion of Grande Porto and Tâmega and in the south by the Centro region. It is assumed that the whole Entre Douro e Vouga is part of Greater Metropolitan Area of Porto.

It has a total surface area of 858 km² (the third smallest) and a population of 283,856 inhabitants for a density of 330 hab/km².

The main urban centres are the cities of Santa Maria da Feira ( city pop.approximately 15,000) and Oliveira de Azeméis (pop. 13,000) and São João da Madeira (pop.23.000).Other cities:Lourosa, Fiães and Vale de Cambra (all with fewer than 10,000).It's main economic activity is centered in light industry,paper and agriculture transformation(mainly rice and cork)and shoes fabrication .

*São João da Madeira
*Vale de CambraAll of the above municipalities have city status, except Arouca, which is a town and all belong to the district of Aveiro.The most populous city in the Entre Douro e Vouga is São João da Madeira{although is is the smallest Portuguese municipality(municipio) in area}.
