Until January 1, 2005, Channel 23 was a brokered-time ethnic station. This was originally the format of WCIU from 1964-December 31, 1994. That programming now airs on FBT (Digital subchannel 26.6).
The "MeTV" moniker originated on channel 23 as a block of TV shows from 12 noon to 3pm. This consisted of shows like "Jack Benny", "Sargent Bilko", "Carol Burnett", "Maude", and "
One Day at a Time ". The MeTV logo was never used on WCIU. This block of programming underwent several changes adding and subtracting shows and expanding time periods. On January 1, 2005, Weigel rechristened WFBT as WWME-CA and made the entire station MeTV. It shifted ethnic programing to and the call letters WFBT to channel 48.On February 5, 2008, Weigel Broadcasting announced that WFBT-CA (analog 48) would be renamed to WMEU and begin airing "Me Too" beginning March 1. "Me Too" is an extension of "MeTV" with even more programs. Current WFBT programming has moved to a digital subchannel of WCIU.
