Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World Resort is a resort located on the property of Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. It is located across from the Downtown Disney district. The hotel originally opened as a Howard Johnson's in February 1973 and remained part of the chain until 1994. In 1995 it was bought by Host Marriott Corporation and operated as a Courtyard by Marriott hotel until 2003. Holiday Inn bought the resort in December 2003. The resort has 323 rooms, two swimming pools and a kid's play pool area. The hotel has been closed since fall 2004 due to hurricane damage and a multi-million dollar renovation that is still ongoing at this time. The hotel plans to re-open early in 2009.
