Sonny Mayo (born Ronald Mayo Jr. in Washington, DC on July 16, 1971) is the former guitarist for
Sevendust , and for Snot. After Snot disbanded in 1998, he joined Amen, as well as contributed all guitar parts to theVanilla Ice album "Hard to Swallow " the same year. In 2003, he replacedChad Benekos inHed PE for the touring in support of the album "Blackout". OnJanuary 19 , 2005, he got a call fromMorgan Rose to join Sevendust afterClint Lowery left forDark New Day . Mayo continued to write, record and perform with the band through 2007. In 2008, Sonny Mayo was replaced in Sevendust by original guitarist Clint Lowery. Before Snot, Sonny played in a DC Area (Virginia) band called MF Pitbulls (an earlier incarnation of Snot withShannon Larkin on vocals). Prior to that, and for a good number of years, Sonny was in a local thrash band called Silence. Silence (John Mayes, Benjamin Gaither, Louie Denslow, Jason Robinson and Sonny), regularly sold out venues in the DC Metro area including the famous "Bayou" in Georgetown. While with Silence, he released a nine track CD, and recorded a 3 song tape with Alex Perialas. One of the songs from the tape, "One Race" was made into a black and white video filmed at the Bayou.In 2008, Snot reformed with the ex-Divine Heresy frontman on vocals for a new world tour and possible new album.
