Lohne is a town in the district of Vechta, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approx. 8 km south-west of Vechta. The town lies on the A1 freeway between Bremen and Osnabrück.

Economy

As an industrial town in the Oldenburger Münsterland (cathedral country), Lohne is particularly well know for its plastics industry.

Notable places

The Lohne Museum of Industry opened in March 2000.

A four turbine windfarm has been in operation in Lohne since October 2003.

Politics

In 2006 Hans-Georg Niesel was elected as Major (CDU).
