Wahidul Gani is a former Bangladeshi cricketer who played in one ODI in 1988 and coach who is mostly regarded for his coaching to the young and talented cricketers.

Playing career

Wahidul Gani was a right arm leg spin bowler and a lower order batsman. He played his only ODI match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup at Chittagong MA Aziz Stadium in 1988.

Coaching career

After retiring he dedicated his time to finding and coaching young talented Bangladeshi cricketers. He founded a coaching institution called 'Ankur' at his own will and trained his students by himself, three times a week at the indoor of the Abahani Club. His willing reputation caught the eyes of the cricket fans as one of his student Mohammad Ashraful scored a century to become the youngest Test Match centurion of the history. Ashraful was picked up by Gani at the age of 11 and now being considered one of the most talented batsman. Another of his student Mohammad Sharif also started his international carrier on a high but later lost his place for the national team because of long term injury. Gani's most recent recent reputation comes from his coaching of left handed Shahriar Nafees whose century against the world champion Australia nearly won the match for Bangladesh.
