The Palo National High School had its humble and significant beginning way back in the year 1993 - 1994 exactly during the second term of Congressman Cirilo "Roy" Montejo of the First District of Leyte. It is a public knowledge that Palo, a first class municipality do not have a public high school right in the poblacion, and upon knowing its significant fact, the Honorable Congressman sponsored a bill in the Philippine Congress for the creation of a public high school to give way to the less previledge and poor but deserving student, of their desire for a higher and quality education, and luckily the bill was approved and that Palo National High School is now a reality.
It started with three sections in the first year with a total enrolment of 157 students, with four teachers directly supervised by the Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Catalina G. Daffon.
Two sections were permanently housed in the newly constructed two room building and the other section temporarily occupied a room owned by Palo Central School. By June 1994 this school will observe its first founding anniversary.
Vision
By the 21st century, every Filipino child shall be enjoying quality of life due to access quality education, good spiritual life, economic stability relevant to cultural values, competitive in work skills, high sense of national identify, and successful adjustment of the fast changing physical and social environment.
Mission
Basic education is change with the mission of providing universal success of quality and relevant education through formal and informal channels for the young Filipinos including the disadvantaged and handicapped groups who will equipped with knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for active and successful participation in the economic, political, socio-cultural, spiritual and moral life in a just and human society.
Philosophy
Education shall develop citizens who believe in God, love their countrymen and fellowmen and actively participate in building a just Filipino society and in conserving and developing the nation's human and natural resources.
Objectives of the School
* Develop an enlightened commitment to the national ideals by cherishing, preserving and developing moral, spiritual and socio-cultural values as well as other desirable aspect of the Filipino heritage;
* Obtain knowledge and form desirable attitude for understanding the nature and purpose of man, and therefore, of one's self, one's own people and other races, places and times, thereby promoting a keen sense of self, of family and of national international communities;
* Develop skills in higher intellectual operations and more complex comprehension and expression, activities and in thinking, intelligently, critically and creatively in life situations;
* Acquires work skills, knowledge and information and a work ethic essential for making an intelligent choice of an occupation or career for specialized training in specific occupations;
* Broaden and heighten one's abilities in the appreciation for the arts, science and technology as means of maximizing one's potentials for self fulfillment and for promoting the welfare of others.
