- IBM UniData
UniData is a multivalue database management system and operating environment that runs on the major
Unix servers andWindows NT /2000. Designed for embedding in vertical software applications, UniData was originally developed by the UniData Corporation. The UniData Corporation merged with Vmark Systems, creators of the UniVerse operating environment and renamed Ardent Software. In turn, Ardent Software was acquired byInformix . In the year2000 , the database division of Informix was acquired byIBM . UniData is now part of IBM's U2 product family.UniVerse is an operating environment/multi-value database system which runs on top of most major Unix and Linux releases. UniVerse was first created by Vmark systems, which then merged with the UniData Corporation to form Ardent Software, which was then purchased subsequently by Informix and IBM.
Both of these operating environments now run on Windows. Both of them have a
BASIC language similar to PICK BASIC which naturally operates on the structures of the multi-value database. They are both offshoots (or black-box copies) of the
Pick operating system .References
