"Arizona" has been the name of three ships of the
United States Navy . They were all named after the state ofArizona , which was admitted to the Union as a state on 14 February 1912. Prior to that, it had been known asArizona Territory .*USS|Arizona|1858, was laid down in 1858 and served in the American Civil War.
*USS|Arizona|1869, was a steam frigate launched in 1865 as the USS "Neshaminy". She was renamed twice, carrying the name "Arizona" for less than three months.
*USS|Arizona|BB-39, was a "Pennsylvania"-class battleship that Japanese bombers sank in the attack on Pearl Harbor on
