nihongo|Inazawa|稲沢市|Inazawa-shi is a city located in Aichi, Japan. The city was founded on November 1, 1958. As of April 1, 2008 the city has an estimated population of 137,466 and the density of 1,730 persons per km². The total area is 79.30 km².

Inazawa is the location of the Solae elevator testing tower, the highest such tower in the world.

Merger

On April 1, 2005 the towns of Heiwa and Sobue merged into the city of Inazawa.Before the merger, 2003, Inazawa had an estimated population of 101,031 and the density of 2,090 persons per km². The former area of Inazawa was 48.35 km².

History

* 7th century: The ancient provincial capital and provincial temple of Owari were built.
* 17th century: Two villages formed an area post town on the road (kaidō) connecting Miya-juku (Atsuta) on the Tōkaidō to Tarui-juku (Mino Province) on the Nakasendō.
* On November 1, 1958, the town of Inazawa became the city.
