nihongo|Fuji|富士市|Fuji-shi is a city in Shizuoka, Japan. The city was founded on November 1, 1966. As of 2008, it has a population of 237,240 and a density of 1,110 persons per km². The area is 214.10 km².

Fuji is an industrial center in eastern Shizuoka prefecture. It is home to numerous paper factories with a total of 365 chimneys. Fuji is served by the Tōkaidō Shinkansen at Shin-Fuji Station and by the Tōkaidō Main Line at Fuji Station, Higashi-Tagonoura Station and Yoshiwara Station.

On November 1, 2008, Fujikawa will be merged into Fuji. Because of this merge and another merge, Ihara District will dissolve.http://www.kokudo.or.jp/new/cities/sub/chubu/22.htm]

Festival

*The Bishamonten festival is one of the three big daruma festivals in Japan.
*The Yoshiwara Gion Festival is held on the second Saturday and Sunday of June.
*The Karigane festival to remember flood victims is held at Kariganezutumi in the fall. The main event is torch throwing. Torches are thrown into a high basket, which bursts into flames.
