Fothergill's sign

Fothergill's sign

Fothergill's sign is a medical sign. It can be elicited by:
*Making the patient touch his chest using his chin
*While in this position, press on the patient's abdomen
*While the abdomen is being pressed, ask the intensity of the pain
*If the pain felt is increased or has the same intensity, then it is positive, this means that the lesion is located on the abdominal wall
*If the pain felt is reduced, then the lesion is suggested to be intraabdominal

It is named for John Fothergill. [WhoNamedIt|synd|3770]
