* Astronomers have discovered a large new trans-Neptunian object, now called Eris, which is larger than Pluto. [http://skyandtelescope.com/news/article_1560_1.asp (Sky and Telescope)] . Also announced today was the discovery of two other large new Kuiper Belt objects, dp|Haumea (mp|(136108) 2003 EL|61) and dp|Makemake (mp|(136472) 2005 FY|9).
