Towada, Aomori

nihongo|Towada|十和田市|Towada-shi is a city located in Aomori, Japan.

As of January 1, 2005 with the merger of the town of Towadako the city has an estimated population of 69,238 and a density of 101 persons per km². The total area is 688.6 km². The town includes the 9km Oirase Gorge, formed as river water flows east out of Lake Towada and through the center of the city.

Historically, Towada has bred horses for cavalry. There are still ample equestrian locations, and Sanbongi Nogyo Koko--Sanbongi Agricultural High School--has one of the highest ranked equestrian teams in Japan.

The city was founded on February 1, 1955.
