- John Frelinghuysen (1727–1754)
John Frelinghuysen (1727 – September 5, 1754) was a minister in colonial New Jersey. Frelinghuysen, and his father, Theodorus Jacobus Frelinghuysen (1691-1748), emigrated from Holland in 1720. John married Dinah Van Bergh (1725-1807), and they had two children: Eva Frelinghuysen (1751-c.1826), Major General Frederick Frelinghuysen (1753-1804). John lived in the Old Dutch Parsonage in Somerville, New Jersey until his death where he served three local congregations. He also tutored students preparing them for the seminary. He died in 1754 and was buried at the Somerville Cemetery, Somerville. References
