- Harry Avery's Castle
Harry Avery's Castle is situated half a mile south-west of
Newtownstewart ,County Tyrone ,Northern Ireland . On a hill, ruined Harry Avery's Castle, is a14th century Gaelic stone castle - most unusual inUlster . The castle consisted of a two-storey rectangular construction fronted by the massive D-shaped twin towers of the keep which remain. It was possibly built by Henry Aimbreidh O' Neil (Harry Avery O'Neill) (died1392 ), and certainly named after him. The castle was captured by the English in1609 .The Castle is a State Care Historic Monument in the townland of Upper or New Deer Park, in
