Joseph Bradshaw Godber, Baron Godber of Willington PC (
17 March 1914 –25 August 1980 ) was a British Conservative politician and cabinet minister.Godber was educated at
Bedford School and became a nurseryman. He became chairman of the county glasshouse section of theNational Farmers Union and of the publicity and parliamentary committee. He was a member of theTomato andCucumber Marketing Board.Godber served as a
Bedfordshire County Council lor. He was electedMember of Parliament for Grantham in 1951.He served as:
*Parliamentary Secretary to theMinistry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food , 1957-1960
*Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs , 1960-1961
*Minister of State for Foreign Affairs , 1961-1963
*Secretary of State for War , 1963
* Minister of Labour, 1963 –1964
*Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs , 1970-1972
*Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food , 1972–1974.He became a Privy Counsellor in 1963. In 1979, Godber was made a
life peer as Baron Godber of Willington, of Willington in the County ofBedfordshire . He died a year later in 1980, aged 66.References
