television movie made for CBC television starringJim Carrey . Originally titled "Introducing...Janet", the title was changed to "Rubberface" for the video release following Jim Carrey's big success. This film was Jim Carrey's third film role.Plot
The movie is about a young woman named Janet Taylor who is depressed about her life. According to her English teacher she is a rather good writer. She is awkwardly funny with her friends, and often puts up a facade because she's very self-conscious. She then meets a dish washer named Tony Maroni (played by
Jim Carrey ) at a comedy club who wants to be a comedian, but he isn’t very funny. She begins to loosen up and becomes a bit of a comedian herself. They then decide that she is better at writing comedy but she doesn’t believe she has the stage presence. The movie ends with them deciding she will write his material from now on. When Jim Carrey's celebrity began to grow, the movie was rebranded to try to focus more on his character. There doesn't seem to be a direct connection between the new title, "Rubberface", and what the movie is actually about.External references
