American football player, active from 1988 to 1998. After graduating fromFlorida State University , Carter playedtight end for theDetroit Lions , the Los Angeles andSt. Louis Rams , theHouston Oilers , and theArizona Cardinals .Pat was a second-round draft choice (32nd overall) by the Detroit Lions in the
1988 NFL Draft . He played hisrookie season for the Lions before playing six of his next seven seasons for the Rams. Carter also played one season for the Houston Oilers and two seasons for the Arizona Cardinals in his career, which ended in 1997. Carter, who earned first-teamAll-America honors by "The Sporting News " as a senior at Florida State, played in 154 games in his NFL career, making 107 receptions for 1,117 yards and nine touchdowns. His best season came in 1996 when he made 26 receptions for 329 yards, adding one touchdown.
