This is a list of top-division association football clubs in UEFA countries.
UEFA , the European football confederation, includes all European countries exceptMonaco andVatican City as members, but also includes the Middle Eastern country ofIsrael .England ,Northern Ireland ,Scotland , andWales , the fourconstituent countries of theUnited Kingdom , have their own football associations and separate UEFA membership. TheFaroe Islands , an autonomous region ofDenmark , also has its own football association which is a member of UEFA. On the other hand, the football association ofGibraltar , aBritish Overseas Territory , had its member application rejected by UEFA in 2007. The Crown dependencies ofGuernsey ,Jersey , and theIsle of Man are not members of UEFA, but members of the English Football Association.Each of the UEFA member countries, except
Liechtenstein , have their own footballleague system s. The clubs playing in each top-level league compete for the title as the country's club champions, and also for places in next season's UEFA club competitions, i.e., theUEFA Champions League , theUEFA Cup , and theUEFA Intertoto Cup . Due topromotion and relegation , the clubs playing in the top-level league are different every season, except inSan Marino where there is only one level.The champions of the previous season in each country are listed in bold.
"Please note": Some clubs do not play in the league of the country in which they are located, but in a neighbouring country's league. Where this is the case the club is noted as such.
