Steve Foley (footballer born 1953)

Steve Foley (born June 21, 1953 in Clacton, Essex) is a professional football coach, formerly an employee of Norwich City before the termination of his contract on May 4, 2006. This prompted a move to rivals Ipswich Town.

Foley first joined Norwich City in 1996, appointed by then manager Mike Walker as reserve team coach. The two had worked together at Colchester, where Foley played professionally, scoring 54 goals in 283 league appearances. However, a knee injury brought his playing career to an end and signalled the start of his coaching career.

In a surprising move by Norwich chairman Roger Munby, Foley's coaching contract was terminated with immediate effect on May 4, 2006. Fans of the club were surprised, believing that Foley had been made a scapegoat for the team's poor performance during the 2005–06 season. Munby reasoned that, although Foley's input had been "invaluable", it was time to "freshen up the coaching set-up" at the club. After leaving the club, Foley joined the coaching staff at Norwich City's rival club Ipswich Town.
