- Alice Neville, 5th Countess of Salisbury
Alice Montagu was born in 1407, the daughter and only legitimate child, of
Thomas Montacute, 4th Earl of Salisbury and Eleanor Holland, who was the daughter ofThomas Holland, 2nd Earl of Kent and Alice Fitzalan, daughter ofRichard FitzAlan, 10th Earl of Arundel andEleanor of Lancaster .In 1420, she married Richard Neville, who became
Earl of Salisbury on the death of his father-in-law in 1428. At the same time, Alice became Countess of Salisbury.The main home of the family was at
Bisham Manor inBerkshire although their lands lay chiefly aroundChristchurch inHampshire andWiltshire .She died some time before
December 9 ,1462 and was buried in the Montacute Mausoleum atBisham Abbey .She and Richard had ten children:

*John Neville, 1st Marquess of Montagu 1431 - 1471
*George Neville 1432 - 1476, who becameArchbishop of York andChancellor of England
*Eleanor Neville, 1438 - 1504, who marriedThomas Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby
*Katherine Neville, 1442 - 25 Mar 1504, who married firstWilliam Bonville, 6th Lord Harington and secondWilliam Hastings, 1st Baron Hastings . By her first husband, she was the mother ofCecily Bonville
*Thomas Neville, 1443 - 1460, who was knighted in 1449 and died at theBattle of Wakefield
*Margaret Neville, 1444 - 20 Nov 1506, who marriedJohn de Vere, 13th Earl of Oxford External links
