The Education Foundation is a
non-profit organization that aims to strengthen and improvepublic education inAustralia . The foundation links private funds with the public (government funded) education sector throughphilanthropic donations and corporate partnerships. The Education Foundation was established in1989 , and has raised $7 million (AUS) which has been invested in the support of public schools, especially among students who are disadvantaged or at risk of dropping out of school.Programs
The Education Foundation runs five major programs to contribute to public education in Australia:
* The City Centre: a school centre in
Melbourne that offers Year 9 and 10 students' weekly, independent intensive learning programs.
* Back To School Day: a national campaign that brings former students back to public schools as role models for today’s young people
* ruMAD? Are You Making A Difference? Encourages students to be young philanthropists and active, caring community participants by freely offering a framework for values based curriculum to all schools.
* Opportunity Scholarships: helps talented, disadvantaged young people achieve their dreams.Research
Education Foundation Australia conducts research to inform public policy and school practice. Its research investigates the conditions for educational equity and excellence among Australian students.
