- Bremner Wafer
Bremner Wafers are made by the
Bremner Biscuit Company . The company claims that the crackers "have a neutral taste" and that they are "perfect for pairing with fine wine or savoring withcheese andpaté orseafood ,soups andsalads " [http://www.worldpantry.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/bremner/allproducts.d2w/report] . It is because of this "neutral" taste that manywineries and food aficionados around the world prefer using the Bremnerwafer as a wine tasting cracker. This neutral taste, however is seen as a drawback by some because it means the crackers are nearly tasteless when eaten alone.History
The Bremner Biscuit company was founded by
David F. Bremner who first introduced bread to the fire victims of the great fire inChicago . Although the Wafer wasn't invented until 1902, David Bremner was modestly successful by that time. When his sons took over the business they developed the original wafer that is still sold. The company remained in Chicago until 1984 when they moved toDenver where it remains today. The Bremner Biscut Company was bought byDare Foods in September 1999. Although he is no longer the CEO, Neil Bremner (5th generation) runs Dare's baking division.Flavors
