Karak (also Kerak) ( _ar. الكرك) is one of the governorates of Jordan, located south-west of Amman, Jordan's capital. Its capital is Al Karak.

Overview

After the creation of the administrative governorates system in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Kerak Became a governorate on June 16th, 1966 with Waheeb Al-Bitar as its first governor.

Karak is divided into 7 "nahias":
*Ayy
*Faqqu
*Al-Karak
*Al-Mazar al-Janubiyya
*Al-Mazra'a
*Al-Qasr
*Al-Safi

Demographics
