James L. Nelson (1962-) is an American historical nautical novelist. He was born in
Lewiston, Maine . In 1980, Nelson graduated fromLewiston High School . Nelson attended theUniversity of Massachusetts , Amherst for two years, and then transferred toUCLA , with the ambition of becoming a film director, much like every other waiter and parking lot attendant in Los Angeles. Nelson and his wife, Lisa and their daughter Betsy lived for two years inSteubenville, Ohio , while Lisa attendedFranciscan University . They have another two boys, Nate and Jack. They now live inHarpswell, Maine , where Nelson continues to write full time.Bibliography
