Image Capture is an application program that enables users to upload pictures from
digital cameras orscanners which are either connected directly to the computer or the network. It provides no organizational tools likeiPhoto but is useful for collating pictures from a variety of sources with no need for drivers. It achieves this by "receiving the picture" as it is and through a conversion process, downloads it onto your computer. It uses QuickTime Image Capture [ [http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0EKF/is_n2118_v42/ai_18345983 Apple picks Motorola MPU for image platform | Electronic News | Find Articles at BNET ] ] . This way it doesn't need to understand anything about the actual camera to be able to do that. It was first introduced inMac OS X version 10.0 (Cheetah)Image Capture is scriptable with
Applescript , and may be manipulated withMac OS X v10.4 (Tiger)'s "Automator " application. As of Mac OS X 10.4, Image Capture's AppleScript dictionary does not open inScript Editor .Image Capture API

Application programming interface associated with the Image Capture Application. Drivers or software built to use this interface can also automatically interface many imaging systems and software that run onMac OS X .
