Real Estate

A walk around Tanglewood quickly reveals an active realty market, with many original 1950s and '60s ranch-style homes being replaced by new custom homes. The neighborhood contains roughly 1200 single-family residences in 11 recognized subdivisions. The average assessed tax values of homes in these neighborhoods varies from around $500,000 to $1,500,000. Tanglewood's desirability, coupled with Houston's healthy economy, have driven Tanglewood home prices considerably higher in recent years, in spite of a general downturn in the American residential property market. Average per-square-foot sales prices have increased over 50% since 2004, from around $200/square foot to nearly $350/square foot in 2007.
