website = [http://www.coreshopping.ca/ Core Shopping]TD Square is an urban shopping centre located along
Stephen Avenue in the downtown core ofCalgary, Alberta . It is connected to theCalgary Eaton Centre (West), Scotia Centre (East), andBankers Hall (South). It is one component in a series of two urban shopping centres, (see
Calgary Eaton Centre ) which share common ownership, management and branding (“The Core”). Together they form the busiest artery of the+15 skywalk system, which links most major office complexes, hotels, attractions and public buildings with climate controlled bridges.TD Square contains approximately 110 retailers over 3 floors, with an emphasis on higher-end office attire. It is anchored by high-end men's department store Harry Rosen, currently occupying 2 floors. Negotiations are underway to almost double the store's size. The centre also contains the only downtown locations for major retailers such as
Banana Republic , GAP, [http://www.urbanfashiongroup.com/ Urban] and Alberta's flagshipClub Monaco store. The expansive fourth floor of the complex contains Calgary's Devonian Gardens, a glass, fully-enclosed year round botanical garden containing reflecting pools and tropical foliage.
The attached historic Lancaster office building contains 3 floors of shops and restaurants, including a busy food court with windows overlooking the street below.
The complex also includes two twin 33-storey black glass office towers, Dome Tower and Home Oil Tower, with office lobbies that open on the main retail floor.
Redevelopment
In late 2007 a development permit application (DP2007-4344) was submitted to the City of Calgary for a renovation of the exterior of the building, including new cladding and a new glass roof for the Devonian Gardens. Further applications are expected to include an interior renovation of the mall from the Sears location at the west side of Eaton Centre through to the +15 connection to Scotia Centre on the east. Renovations are expected to be staged and will coincide with the relocation of Holt Renfrew from their current location in Eaton Centre to the former Sears location after the store closes in January 2008.
