Nidwalden inSwitzerland .It has a population of 2900 of which 6% is of foreign nationality (
2002 ). The area of Beckenried is 32.95 km².There are 180 local businesses which employ 900 people. 19% of these are in the agricultural sector, 32% in trade and industry, 49% in services.
The main sights of Beckenried are: the church "St. Heinrich" and its cemetery chapel, the "Ridli" chapel, the chapel "St. Anna", the "Klewen" chapel, fun fair ("Älplerkilbi"), and the St. Nikolas market.
Starting from Beckenried a cable car brings tourists up to Klewenalp, a major holiday resort both in winter and in summer.
