† Appearances (Goals).Neil John Ashton (born 15 April 1985 in Liverpool, Merseyside) is an English footballer who joined Chester City in the summer of 2009.[2] He typically plays as left-back, but occasionally acts as a midfielder.
Ashton has previously played for Tranmere Rovers, Shrewsbury Town and Macclesfield Town.
A free agent after the demise of Chester, Ashton joined Wrexham on trial, later signing a permanent deal with the club ahead of the 2010–11 season.[3]
