Luuk van Middelaar

Luuk van Middelaar (1973- ) is a Dutch historian and liberal philosopher attached to the Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie (VVD), which is the biggest liberal formation in the Netherlands. He gained international success in 1999 by publishing his PhD-paper ("doctoraalscriptie" in Dutch) "Politicide".

Van Middelaar was awarded the "Prix de Paris" ("Prize of Paris") in 1999 [http://www.ambafrance.nl/article.php?id_article=706] and the "Prijs voor de Vrijheid" ("Prize of Liberty") in 2002 for his contributions to liberal thought.
