Alina Astafei (known before 1995 as Galina Astafei; born
June 7 ,1969 inBucharest ) is a German and formerlyRomania n track and field athlete. In the 1990's she was one of the world's besthigh jump ers.Her biggest success is the silver medal at the
1992 Summer Olympics inBarcelona ,Spain , where she jumped over 2.00 meters. She represented Romania at those games. She first jumped over 2 meters in 1988, her personal best was 2.01 meters in 1995.On January 9, 1995, she left the Romanian track and field association and since March 1, 1995, she has had German citizenship. Astafei represented
USC Mainz (1995-1997) and MTG 1899 Mannheim (from 1998; Trainer: Dan Vladescu). While she was active she was 1.81 meters tall and weighed 60kg.Individual results (until 1994 for Romania)
