- Yankov Gap
Yankov Gap (Yankova Sedlovina 'yan-ko-va se-dlo-vi-'na) is an ice-covered saddle linking Melnik Ridge and Bowles Ridge in eastern
Livingston Island . The gap is at an elevation of 575 m and extends 800m in the north-south direction fromMelnik Peak toAsparuh Peak . The gap is part of the divide between the glacial catchments of the head ofKaliakra Glacier to the west andStruma Glacier to the east.Samokov Knoll (602m) is situated in the north part of the gap.The gap was first crossed on
28 December 2004 and was named after Yordan Yankov, a radio-engineer atSt. Kliment Ohridski Base in several seasons since 1994.Mapped from the Bulgarian topographic survey
