- Pliska Ridge
Pliska Ridge (Vrah Pliska 'vr&h 'pli-ska) is a three-peaked ridge rising to 667 m in eastern
Livingston Island ,Antarctica . Its central and highest peak is located 2.6 km ENE ofWillan Nunatak (449 m), 1.7 km SE ofBurdick Peak (773 m, summit ofBurdick Ridge ), 3.53 km SSW ofMount Bowles , 3.68 km WSW ofKuzman Knoll , and 3.6 km NW ofMount Friesland . The feature is 1.6 km long and 500 m wide, its axis trending due E-W, with precipitous southern slopes. It is ice covered except for segments of its easternmost peak (646 m) and is bounded to the NW byOrpheus Gate , to the N by the head ofPerunika Glacier , to the E byNesebar Gap , and to the S and W by the head ofHuntress Glacier , the latter flowing 6 km southwestwards intoFalse Bay .Pliska is the name of a settlement in north-easternBulgaria , which in the seventh century became the capital of the First Bulgarian Kingdom.Location
The summit of the ridge is located at coord|62|38|44|S|60|13|49|W| (Rough British mapping in 1968, detailed Spanish mapping in 1991, Bulgarian mapping from topographic surveys in 1995/96 and 2004/05).
