Pimpirev Glacier (Pimpirev Lednik pim-'pi-rev 'led-nik) on
Livingston Island drains southeastwards towardsPimpirev Beach . It is situated W ofPerunika Glacier , S ofTundzha Glacier and E ofKamchiya Glacier and extends 6 km in a SE-NW direction, and 2 km in NW-SE direction. The glacier mostly terminates on the shore, on several occasions penetrating the South Bay waters.The glacier is named for Christo Pimpirev, geologist in the 1987-88 Bulgarian Antarctic campaign and leader of subsequent campaigns. The original name Pimpirev Ice Wall was given on October 29, 1996 to the 50-m high rectilinear ice scarp-slope running parallelly to and some 100 m inland from the coast of South Bay NE of
Ereby Point . Reflecting subsequent changes in the ice cap configuration, the present name form was approved for the relevant glacier on November 4, 2005.Location
