Chtylok the Che-K'n Kau is a fictional character in the Marvel Comics Universe. It first appeared in Sensational Spider-Man vol. 1 #13 (February 1997)

Fictional character biography

Chtylok is a 25-foot (7.6 m) tall half-chicken, half-cow creature that inhabits an area of the Antarctic, just outside the Savage Land. Millenia ago the Fall People of the Savage Land worshipped the fearsome beast, until it went into hibernation.^[1] In Sensational Spider-Man #13, the hole in the ozone layer has begun to cause the ice around the Savage Land to melt, which wakes Chtylok from its hibernation. Somehow it finds its way to the surface of Monster Island, and follows several fleeing monsters to the Florida Keys. There it meets the Hulk, and engages him in battle.

Meanwhile, in Sensational Spider-Man #14, Spider-Man, Ka-Zar, and Shanna the She-Devil travel to the Savage Land on a S.H.I.E.L.D.-sponsored mission to save the jungle kingdom from flooding. They discover that Roxxon Oil, who had claimed to be aiding the S.H.I.E.L.D., are actually using microwave transmitters to hasten the melting of the glaciers, which would allow them to carry on unlimited oil drilling. The melting of the ice accidentally frees Stegron the Dinosaur Man, who gathers together an army of dinosaurs to slay all humans in the Savage Land.

In Sensational Spider-Man #15, the Hulk and Chtylok's fight brings them back to the Savage Land, just as Stegron launches his attack. The Hulk subdues Chtylok, and Stegron's T-Rex attacks him as well. Spider-Man manages to reveal Roxxon's secret to S.H.I.E.L.D, and they manage to shut down Roxxon's microwave transmitter, stopping the flood. Dr. Gerald Roth, a Roxxon agent, attempts to flood the Savage Land by detonating a series of bombs; however the flood is diverted into the enormous crater caused by the battle between Chtylok and the Hulk. Roth flees the Land, only to meet Chtylok (and, presumably, to be eaten by the monster). This is Chytlok's last appearance.

During the Ms. Marvel portion of the Civil War storyline, a fast-food franchise is shown called "Chicken Cow". The fictional mascot of the franchise is a monster similar to Chtylok.

Powers and abilities

Chtylok is a 25-foot (7.6 m) tall chicken-like monster with razor-sharp talons, bovine-like legs and hooves, and a large, spiked, prehensile tail. Despite his immense size, he is capable of flight. His strength is in the same class as the Hulk, as he was able to engage him in battle for some time.

• Chtylok appears in the PlayStation 2 and PSP versions of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. It appears as an assist character who will stomp upon any enemy.
